Do I need insurance?

Students are not required to take out buildings insurance on their rented property as this will be covered by the landlord. However, your personal belongings will not be covered by any insurance held by the landlord. We recommend

Who can I contact if I have an emergency?

We operate a 24-hour emergency call out service that can be contacted via 07765484736. Please note that becoming locked out of your property does not constitute an emergency and a call out charge of £50 will apply.

HOW DO I PAY RENT?

Payments are preferred via BACS however we also accept cheque or cash.  You can find our detail on the website under TENANTS, then 'MAKE A PAYMENT'

Are internet/ phone charges included?

All properties include unlimited usage of internet**. However phone charges are not included, if any phone charges are incurred they will be billed to you directly via your termly rent statement.

How long is the tenancy?

Tenancies  vary from property to property, however most tenancies are 50 weeks long and run from Mid-August to the end of July

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE RENT?

Unless stated otherwise; gas, electricity, water rates, internet & TV License are inclusive of your rent*. Valid students (those studying for more than 21 hours per week) are exempt from Council Tax payments

how do i submit a maintenance request?

Maintenance requests can be submitted by heading to 'MAINTENANCE REQUEST' on studenthousingyork.co.uk and one of the team will be round in a jiffy!
